Anyway, in response to that video, its kind of sad, thats only 2 minutes of my life and yet i do stuff like that for a lot longer. That was just two minutes out of a whole night of doing that. I probably should read and do stuff similar to that but i am not going to lie, the internet is much more interesting then a book. Or thats how it seems to me. And no i wouldn't want my children being like this. I would want them to be able to read and say, ok i am done with the internet and then turn it off and read. Which is better then anything i can do now.

  1. Sam, I thought that it was great how you captured how in retrospect it is somewhat sad that those two minnutes shown in your video can turn into hours at a time. I also agree with your point that the internet for most people at least of our generation does seem more interesting then reading a book. That point specifically made me think what is it exactly that makes the internet more interesting then a book? Is it the ability to multi task? Or perhaps its just the flashing lights and speed giving us all a little digital buzz.
Something else that I noticed on almost all of the videos that I watched was the multi tasking and the almost instant change from one thing to another. One thing that I would have liked to have seen was you while you were playing your x-box because I think that would have really captured some of the deep concentration and intensity which many people experience while their ussing such things.
Great work I was glad to see it!

  2. Thanks Will! That comment really did bring up some good points about how i could have improved it, as well as making me feel good about my work at the same time. I should go more in depth with my work, some intensity would have definitely helped me. So next time i could put some of my time wasting into a more intense form, but is reading really all that intense? I mean what defines intense? Better yet what defines a waste of time? Isn't wasting time doing something that doesn't make you happy? If i am happy while i am on the internet then isn't that what counts? Anyway this comment did help, thanks for using your time to help me out.

  3. To Sam J,

Whats good man? I just finish watching your video. I serious appreciate how you took some of your time and came up with a cool video. I understand how most teenagers just sit in front of their computer and do what they gotta do. And beside you gave "us" an introduction of what you were doing on the computer. Such as facebooking, watching tv, etc... <--- That was great. No one really talk on their video but it was a smart thing that you did.

Your video shows me how teenagers like yourself spend time on their computer doing nothing. You said " I am facebooking, watching television, listening to music ---> it is a waste of time. A lot of teenagers still does that but it is not our fault that these technologies are so addictive. Like what you also said on your writing... you should had read or do something else, but we cant. Computer are much more interesting than reading or talking to your parent.

Like most people in our class, they have the same point of view as you... sit on the computer and just chill. Julie spend her time watching tv and using her sidekick. Aja spend her time onling. Richard probably has all his attention on the computer and didnt bother looking at the video. This shows us that many teenagers loves their technologies.

Sam, here are some suggestion you could had done to make your video better. Show us what you were doing on your computer for sure. You said you were listening to music and watching tv, but i didnt hear no sound at all.

what i do in my video... was doing my homework then get distracted by the music, so i decided to called my girlfriend. The music goes with the video. Then i went to play xbox 360 and didnt get back to my homework.

But overall, you done a great job... next time or next "year" i bet you can make it better.

  4. Thanks quinn, Those comments made me feel a little better about my work because my video wasnt that creative compared Andy's or Sandys or even yours. I mean i did talk a little. But improving my video is definitely something that i can look into for next year, maybe show a day in the life of my computer. But other i dont know how much farther then that i can go and not make it about technology. But your comment did help me, your right, technology is addictive which is part of our major downfall, but that would be if technology was a bad thing. But it seems like we are both interested in the addictivity of technology. Maybe thats a good thing to look into. How addictive really is it?

  5. Sam,

Good video. The noise from the TV was almost unbearable for me.

Your writing is fine, but could benefit from further thought and development. See Andy's as a model.
